Transportation:Havre does have a commercial airport and direct flights can be booked from Billings, MT at The Billings Logan International Airport..The Great Falls International Airport is another relatively close International Airport but does not provide a direct flight into Havre, MT. Great Falls, MT is 113 miles southwest of Havre along highway #87. Amtrak also has a destination in Havre, MT if you would like to make the trip by rail. Please refer to the Maps link for locating and driving directions to Havre, MT. No matter how you plan to arrive, we can assist you with any additional transportation needs to get you into and around Havre. We can also assist in Hotel Accommodations and other local venues that you may be interested in.
Weather & Terrain: The weather in north central Montana can be unpredictable and at times rather harsh. We suggest you check the weather nearing your hunt dates to better prepare for what you may experience during the time of your hunt.
The terrain of the preserve varies from wet and muddy/sandy river bottom and drainage, to thirty foot coulees which run from the river bottom to an upper prairie region. The free range area is the same as the preserve, but contains a much larger area of open prairie.
What to Bring for Hunting: The following is a list of items that are required to hunt with Northern Edge and can also be purchased locally.

Montana residents need upland bird stamps for preserve hunts

Non residents need an upland bird stamp or 3-day shooting preserve license for preserve hunts

Montana residents and non residents need upland bird stamps and a conservation license for free range hunting of upland birds. Any other game hunted must be taken legally within the Montana F.W.P regulations.

High quality walking boots that are comfortable, waterproof and warm. Break in your boots prior to hunting.

Layers of clothing for unpredictable weather, a waterproof shell, insulating layer and long underwear. If it's warm you can always strip layers down.

Water canister for you and your dog, open water may be frozen at any time.

Bird vest for carrying your birds comfortably while hunting, also provides great shell holding capability.

Gloves that you can shoot with and wear for warmth

Post Hunt Services: Northern Edge will provide bird cleaning and packaging services as well as overnight storage of bagged birds(please refer to pricing and packages for costs)
Reservations for dinner at the Prairie Farms Club House can be made until 1:00pm with Northern Edge. Lunch menu is also available at the clubhouse along with beverages which include beer/wine.
Rules: Every hunter will be given a list of rules and regulations which will be discussed before every hunt. Some of the obvious rules include:

all hunters must sign hunting waiver before the hunt begins

all hunters must be paid up in full before the hunt

all hunters must have proper tags and stamps
-
no alcohol consumption before or during the hunt
-
anyone who is considered ‘unsafe’ at the discretion of Northern Edge staff will be asked to leave
