In conjunction with a hunting preserve and free range hunting area, Northern Edge also raises pheasants and chukars from day old chicks on site. One great advantage to raising our own birds is quality control. Only well conditioned, mature birds will be released in the fall for hunting. Guaranteed availability of mature pheasants will also be granted by having this facility on site. Birds raised on our game bird farm will be used for annual release onto our free range area, and are also available for purchase for personal uses. Uses may include personal consumption or restaurant use. Pheasant can be considered a delicacy due to their lean quality of meat and great taste. Other uses may be for release on your own private property, whether it be for hunting or to simply increase your pheasant population. Lastly, purchase of pheasants may be used for dog training. Live birds are the ultimate tool for training pups or to refine an experienced dog.
